When working at home: What type of internet connection is needed?
A high-speed internet connection (7mbps) by cable or telephone line is necessary for our system to operate normally.
When working at home: Are calls only in my area?
No, calls are made everywhere in Quebec. Bilingual staff can even make calls in the rest of Canada and around the world.
When working at home: Do I have to pay for long distance charges?
No, calls go through your internet connection. Thus, there are no long distance charges and your telephone line remains available during your working hours.
When working at home: Can I use my personal computer or a laptop?
No, it is mandatory to use the computer equipment provided by SOM. It is a desktop computer with screen, keyboard and mouse. The headset is also provided by SOM.
What are the kinds of surveys you do?
SOM is a survey firm specializing in the following areas:
- Market research
- Satisfaction surveys
- Social and economic research
- Program evaluation
What is the salary?
The salary is $16.00 an hour for call center interviewers and $16.50 an hour for teleworkers. A bonus of $0.50 per hour is offered to bilingual interviewers. There are no sales nor quotas to reach.
Is there a guaranteed number of hours per week?
No, the interviewer job is on call. Since the workload varies according to the projects, we may not use all your work availabilities.
Can I work only during the day?
No, the majority of our projects are between 1:00 pm and 9:30 pm
How are work schedules established?
Shifts ends at 9:30 pm every weekday evening. The shift starts either at 1:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 5:30 pm or 6:00 pm depending on your availability and workload. In addition, there are no weekend shifts anymore
You must offer (Monday to Friday) a minimum of 3 shifts per week. Availability must be sent a week in advance.
Can I get help during my shifts?
Yes, you can ask for help at any time from supervisors either by IM or by phone.
Where are your offices located?
The head office is located in Quebec City at 3340 rue de La Pérade, 4th floor.
We also have an office in downtown Montreal at 1180 Drummond Street, Suite 620.
When was SOM founded?
SOM was founded in Quebec City in 1986, so the company has been in business for more than 30 years.
